Social Media Strategy: Consistency Is Key

For the past decade, I've been helping various businesses and political candidates brand themselves.

The first question I always ask my clients?

"Why should anybody buy from (or vote for) you?"

You'd be surprised how many times that has caught a Congressional candidate or business owner off guard, and yet it's the question that is first and foremost in the minds of each potential customer or voter.

Provide a good product at a fair price, and you might have a successful business. Understand your consumer and you will have a great business.

How Social Media can help your business:

  • Enables you to brand yourself.
  • Grants customers access to your brand.
  • Allows you to reach your customers directly without the need for expensive marketing campaigns.
  • Can generate "buzz" around your business if done properly.

Whether you've decided to blog, use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or various other social networking sites, the key to remember is to be consistent. In this information age, your potential customers are bombarded with messages all the time,  so the best thing you can do is not confuse them with various mixed messages. Stick with one profile photo, one message, and distribute it throughout all of the various platforms, regularly.

And remember, Social Media takes time. Your business may receive a bump, but it is unrealistic to expect it to skyrocket overnight.

Have patience and consistency - slow and steady wins the race.
